This weekend, WTB chose the Grinduro gravel event in Quincy, California to announce two new additions to their lineup of 650b ‘Road Plus’ tyres. ADVNTR were there for the launch to grab some photos and touch the rubber!
Venture 47 is an evolution of the ‘traditional’ file tread gravel tyre, popular with our US friends and their long, rolling gravel roads. Of more interest to our mélange of mixed trail, singletrack and road, is the more nobbly Sendero 47.
The Senduro shares a lot in common with one of our favourite ‘all conditions’ tyres, the 700c x 42 WTB Resolute. But it is a whole lot wider and more suited to heading off the gravel and onto singletrack.
“Inspired by progressive gravel events along the lines of Grinduro, the Sendero 47 provides an aggressive tread pattern in the high-volume Road Plus™ format, combining drop bar efficiency and mountain bike traction. We continually strive to innovate not only the products we make, but also where and how they allow us to ride our bikes. The Venture 47 looks perfect if your travels are more road biased with just the occasional excursion out onto gravel and forest fireroad. That fast centreline ridge suggests that the Venture will be able to tap along at a decent pace on asphalt and hardpack.

UK RRP and stock is TBA but prices should be in line with the rest of the WTB Road Plus range, so expect £42.99 as a ballpark. UK distributor Hotlines UK should be receiving stock late 2018.
