DYEDBRO NEO: a new printed frame protection kit for gravel

The Madrid printers have put their patterned kits on a thicker skin: vinyl under a 100-micron laminate, cut in 12 pieces for gravel bikes, with fork sections for anyone who straps cargo there.

DYEDBRO has a new line of printed frame protection called NEO: three designs cut for gravel bikes and fourteen for mountain bikes and e-bikes, all on sale now from the brand's own shop.

The Madrid brand started in late 2015, set up by two friends, a professional printer and a professional mountain bike rider, and it still prints its kits itself. Its patterned kits have always been about the artwork. With NEO the news is the material, which DYEDBRO calls "the next evolution of graphic frame protection": premium vinyl under "a tough 100-micron laminate", with "a soft, rubber-like feel" that the brand says follows awkward tube shapes. Bikerumor's launch story goes as far as calling it the brand's strongest printed protection yet.

For a gravel or bikepacking bike the useful part is where the pieces go. DYEDBRO cut the gravel kit for luggage straps, cable rub and stones, and anyone who has taken a frame bag off after a wet weekend and found the lacquer rubbed dull under the Velcro will know why that matters.

Twelve pieces, and some for the fork

The gravel kit has 12 pieces covering the top tube, down tube, fork, seatstays and chainstay. The fork sections are meant for people who carry cargo there, so if you run cages on the fork legs they go where the straps sit. Three round patches come on top, for a cable rub spot or under a strap. The mountain bike kits use an 8-piece layout that the brand says fits all MTBs and e-bikes.

Racing and Laureum, two of the three gravel designs, are gloss. The third is matt, drawn by Victor Brousseaud for DYEDBRO's Artist Series. On the MTB and e-bike side there are collaborations with Juay and RRR, a mix of gloss and matt finishes, and several designs in a choice of black or white.

DYEDBRO says the kits are easy to apply, and the softer material should help: the brand says it "conforms effortlessly to complex frame contours" and leaves "a flawless finish". If you've never fitted frame protection before, DYEDBRO's installation page has step-by-step guides and video tutorials for its patterned kits.

Pricing and UK availability

The Racing and Laureum gravel kits are €63.99 ($74). The Victor Brousseaud gravel kit, and every MTB and e-bike design, is €60.99 ($70). There's no sterling price: UK orders through the brand's shop are charged in euros. Silverfish is the UK distributor, so a Silverfish dealer is the place to ask if you'd rather buy from a shop.

The full range is on DYEDBRO's NEO protection page, and the gravel kits are in the NEO gravel collection.
