New Bike Release: Surly Pugsley V2.0

What’s old is new again!

Pugsley in action!

No need for buff singletrack!

It’s only six weeks since the last new Surly was unveiled (see here) and like the Pack Rat (inspired by 50’s French Rando bikes) here’s another nod to the past! The original Pugsley was arguably the first production fatbike and barely changed from 2004 until it was quietly retired (along with the Moonlander) and seemingly replaced by the newer trail-inspired Wednesday & Ice Cream Truck.

Perhaps a new Pugs was planned  all along, or maybe there was a flurry of angry emails to Surly HQ, either way the Pugsley V2 was unveiled today as the Arrowhead 135 kicked off, with two Surly employees racing on them!

What’s it for?

Fully loaded Pugsley

Room for everything you might need!

Surly used to categorise all its fatbikes under the Omniterra tag. 2018 sees the Wednesday and ICT under the Trail heading and the Pugsley under Touring. So the Wednesday has the slacker geometry and suspension compatibility and the Pugsley is geared up for more sedate, but longer, days in the saddle. The image above makes it clear that you’re expected to stray far from the beaten track in your search for adventure.
