It wasn’t just the Surly Midnight Special that caught our eye from QBP’s 2018 Frostbike show . Their sister company All City Cycles unveiled this, the Gorilla Monsoon. Keeping with the wrestling theme established by the Macho Man, the Gorilla Monsoon edges just that bit further away from road & gravel towards Monster Cross.
Designed to accept a minimum of 700 x 38c up to a whopping 650b x 2.4″ tyre there is no doubting this ape is designed for the rough stuff. Stealth dropper routing, front & rear thru-axles and all-enclosed cable runs are further evidence of this. Despite this the Gorilla sticks with a standard oversized head tube as All-City prefer steel forks for non-race bikes, and to quote them “the fork crown is pretty awesome!”
The Gorilla Monsoon is listed under All City’s Adventure category, which explains the triple bottle bosses and practical rack & fender mounts at both ends.
If you want a Gorilla Monsoon it would probably pay to act fast. Shona at Keep Pedalling believes that US pre-orders have sold out the first batch! For the UK, the framesets are due to arrive at the end of April and will cost £950. No news yet on the availability or pricing on complete bikes.
