We have just heard that Guy Martin is releasing a new product – Proper Degreaser.
In common with their Proper Cleaner, that we reviewed last year, it is based water soluble capsules. This is not a new technology, but no one else is using it in the cycling sphere.
The logic is flawless. Why send large bottles of liquid around the country, when you can post an envelope? The benefits are demonstrable in terms of reduced use of ‘single use plastic’, a significant reduction in haulage costs, less traffic and less pollution. Not only that, but the Degreaser is environmentally friendly too.

As we become increasingly aware of the damage we are doing to the planet, as a species, everything we can do to reduce our impact on the environment is important. This product seems to tick all the usual boxes and then some more. Maybe one day, more cleaners and degreasers will adopt this model.
The Degreaser will be available as a starter and a refill pack:
- Starter Pack: Bottle & 1 Pouch, makes 1.5l of degreaser, £10
- Refill Pack: 1 Pouch, makes 1.5l of degreaser, £8.50.
These prices compare very favourably with other products on the market.
