UK’s first dedicated CX and gravel team launched

CX Syndicate
CX Syndicate is a newly registered Cyclocross, Gravel and MTB team operating out of Peak District. This season, due to restrictions placed on travel, and a heavily reduced calendar, CX Syndicate will be setting their eyes on some big challenges close to home, however, plans are in place to expand as a UCI Team in 2021.

Introducing the riders

Headlining the four rider roster are Elite riders Ian Field and Beth Crumpton, both of whom are former British national champions. Ian is 5 times British cyclocross champion, whilst Beth is a cyclocross National Trophy series winner, and U23 MTB national champ.

CX Syndicate will also be supporting promising Junior talent Ben Chilton. Ben is currently balancing his racing with completing his A-levels, we are delighted to offer a star of the future the opportunity to learn and develop alongside our Elite riders. Completing the line up is Bruce Dalton as rider-manager. Bruce is a seasoned gravel racer, CX specialist and familiar face on the British cyclocross scene.

Securing sponsorship even in unpredictable times

We are proud to be supported by some fantastic sponsors from the UK and abroad, who will offer the four rider roster the best kit for their chosen discipline. Vitus Bikes join as lead sponsor, with riders competing on Vitus bikes, as well as offering feedback and product development insights. For their cyclocross seasons, the riders will race the UCI registered 2021 Energie Evo frameset, in a custom Team Edition setup.

‘Vitus are super excited to join forces with the CX Syndicate, we launched our all new Energie EVO cyclocross race bike this season and we’re excited to see the team put it through its paces. The vision of the team matches ours and we’re looking forward to supporting them on this new adventure’!

The team will be sure to turn heads in their distinctive new Stolen Goat team kit. We have ensured it will be easy to spot them on the hills of Flanders, the gravel of Kielder or the rock gardens of Nove Mesto.

Ian Field, known as one of the best CX racers in the UK, is looking forward to turning his hand to gravel events

Beth, who now balances racing with full time work said: “I’m keen to get my teeth into my first full gravel racing season. It’s a new discipline for me and a new challenge to go for which in 2021 will keep me sane”!

Ian was keen to mention: “I am really excited to be involved in this new project  which gives me the chance to take part in some new interesting gravel events backed by a really pro set up”.

Having launched at such an unstable time, it is difficult to plan and prepare for races, however we do aim to race some international cyclocross this season. At home we will support the badly affected British racing scene as far as possible. The team is already volunteering to support events in the East Midlands, and Ian is coaching younger riders whose racing has been curtailed over the winter. The team will also be setting up a kit recycling scheme, and carbon offsetting its transport to help develop sustainability in cycling and racing.
