GRINDURO Switzerland – POSTPONED
UPDATE FROM THE ORGANISER:
Dear Grinduro friends,
The safety of the participants is our top priority. We regularly reassess the situation around the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Switzerland and especially in the canton of Grisons. Currently, we expect the event to be held from 26 to 28 June 2020.
Registrations can still be made. In case of a necessary postponement or cancellation of the event we will inform you immediately. Of course, in such cases the starting places will be taken over to the new date or refunded to the new date.
We wish everyone the best of health!
Lenzerheide is best known for the annual UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. The mountain landscape around the village offers first-class gravel tours with magnificent views. Further north, the Rhaetian Railway winds its way through the spectacular Albula Valley on a UNESCO World Heritage Railway Track. In this unique landscape, the first Grinduro Switzerland takes place.
The unique format of Grinduro combines the best elements of a mountain bike enduro with a gravel grinder-style road race. Festivities include two days of excellent food, a handmade bike show, an art exhibit, live music and camping.
The fun starts on Friday evening at the venue in Lenzerheide, where the Grinduro Village will welcome you. Once you have parked your car, everything is within walking distance: the camping in the light forest, the camper pitch and the hospitality area.
All those who still want to have fun on their bikes tonight, sign up for the Fun Prologue race. A short circuit around the venue on asphalt, gravel and dirt in time trial format serves as qualification – the fastest lap counts. For the final runs in eliminator format, with per run 8 riders, the best 16 women and 32 men will qualify. Everyone else enjoy the show, the campfire, good music and the local craft beer.
Saturday, everything will be taken care of for you: meals, a great atmosphere and the second night of camping. After your breakfast in the Nordic House, we’ll wait for you and your bike near the starting line for the rider briefing before you’re on your way.
The race remains challenging (70 km of up and downhill over rough terrain), but the Grinduro is not a festival of suffering. With a mass start in Gran Fondo style, the day then plays out at a moderate pace. You’ll be able to pedal with your friends and your heroes, since the race isn’t timed. Only four segments actually are, and they’re all very different. In this way, the Grinduro rewards the most well-rounded participants.
Not quite as challenging, but a healthy bite of the Grinduro experience – Grindurito is roughly one half of the challenge of Grinduro without the competition. It’s the perfect alternative if your legs aren’t quite ready for the full course.
